How much does this catamaran cost?

Answer: The price of the Dandee 8M catamaran as of July 2009 is still being held to a low $99,500.00 USD. (Convert this to your currency here).

What does the price include?

Answer:  In general this price includes all the basic components you would expect to see on a 'ready to sail' cruising catamaran: finished and gel coated hulls, beams, decks, trampoline, mast, boom, main and jib sails with covers, lines, winches, blocks, anchor & chain rode, 12V running lights, 12V interior lights, wiring, 2 fuse panels and marine batteries. Interior cushions, galley sink, single plumbed water lines and water tanks, insulated icebox, marine head and holding tank. A complete specification sheet will be available soon.

What does the price not include?

Answer: This price does not include any import duty, taxes or license fees that may apply in your country. It does not include any assembly costs, crane or launch fees. No electronics (VHF radio, depth sounder, GPS, compass, chartplotter), no shorepower connections or plugs, engines, trailer, cockpit cushions, dodger, canopy, windshield or bimini, fenders or dock lines, sail furling systems.

Can I add some options to my catamaran for an extra price?

Answer: Yes, we can add several popular options not included in the standard model including jib furling, spinnaker, shore power, galley stove, fridge, cockpit cushions, windshield, canopy, dinghy davits etc. You can request a customized quotation here.

How fast can I expect the Dandee Catamaran to go?

Answer: Expect to see speeds up to ten knots on a reach and lightly loaded. Downwind with an asymmetrical spinnaker and the drop centerboard version should allow you to achieve speeds in the low teens or even more.

Is the Dandee 8M Catamaran suitable for ocean sailing?

Answer: Many boats smaller than the Dandee have sailed across oceans with an experienced crew, good preparation and planning. This catamaran has been designed to be primarily a coastal cruising catamaran and although built to high standards it is not recommended for offshore ocean sailing.

Is it possible to capsize the Dandee 8M Catamaran?

Answer: The Dandee 8M is remarkably stable and solid even in high wind conditions. Guidelines for sail reefing are given in the manual and if these are followed it is extremely unlikely that the boat will capsize.

Is it possible to view a Dandee 8M Catamaran?

Answer: Possibly, the first Dandee 8M Cat (the 2008 Demo Model) is docked in Ontario, Canada and presently sails on the Beautiful Waters of the Bay of Quinte. Test sails are available - please refer to our new website for updates or contact us to arrange a visit and sail.

How long does it take to put the Dandee 8M Catamaran together?

Answer: This depends on the experience of the assembly crew, the equipment available and the preparation. With a crew of four and access to a small crane or forklift you should allow 6 to 8 hours to assemble the main structural components. Allow another four hours or so for raising the mast, attaching the trampoline and deck hardware and bending on the sails. The boat can usually be assembled and launched in less than one day. We provide detailed assembly instructions and we are always just a phone call or email away for extra assistance.

Is there a trailer available?

Answer: Yes, we have designed an expanding trailer that allows for the catamaran to be launched or retrieved without a crane. You must ''demount' the beam and retract the hulls before taking on the road and you may need to purchase a ‘wide load’ permit from your local municipality for transporting on local roads.

Can I change the inside layout?

Answer: Absolutely, your new Dandee Cat can be custom designed to suit your needs providing the structural bulkhead locations are held.

What materials are used?

Answer: Hulls and decks are formed in female moulds using vinylester resin vacuum infusion and 12mm foamcore sandwich. Foreward beam is aluminum, mast and boom are carbon fiber.

How long will it take to build my Dandee Cat?

Answer: Depending on factory workload and customization requirements we can produce a Dandee catamaran in eight to twelve weeks. Shipping time will depend on your location.

The Cruising Catamaran is great, but what if we want to race the Cat?

Answer: We can make the Dandee 8M Catamaran in either a cruising or racing model. Again, we will work with you to custom design the catamaran to suit your sailing needs.

Is there a warranty?

Answer: Yes, most components on the Dandee 8M have their own limited warranty. We provide a two year warranty against fiberglass delamination and osmosis.
